This is one of the many reasons I love Bradley Wright. In this post he looks at the relationship between federal spending and tornado deaths in the wake of Bachman’s comments about natural disasters and the budget. Below is the relationship between the deaths caused by tornadoes and earthquakes and the federal budget.

Because of the drastic inverse relationship between tornado-caused deaths and the federal budget, Wright concludes that, following Bachman’s logic:
[T]his empirical relationship would have to mean that God wants more Federal spending, not less. While federal spending has increased four-fold in the last 60 years, deaths from tornadoes and earthquakes have dropped three-fold. God must be very, very pleased with all this federal spending.
